During my LinkedIn training workshops we discuss the time it takes to get the best out of LinkedIn.
Sometimes, the conversation can go something like this:
“To be honest, I really don’t have the time for all of that social media stuff.”
“I suppose that I could Like some content, but who has the time to write Comments?”
I entirely understand this feedback.
After all, everyone is busy, aren’t they?
Having said this, writing a few comments within LinkedIn only takes a few minutes.
Commenting can make a big difference to your visibility within the platform.
Here is a tip: at this stage, do not try to sell your products or services.
It is important to read what they have written and click through to any external content.
Within your comments, use short sentences.
Always read through your comments, before you publish them.
Respond to posts in a positive, helpful and thoughtful way.
People notice that you have commented on their posts.
They may Like your comment or respond to it with another comment.
If this happens, you have a conversation on your hands.
This is the case, even if the person who posted is not a first degree connection with you.
I often use my smartphone to Comment on LinkedIn posts as I travel around the country, meeting clients and delivering training workshops.
LinkedIn works better if you engage with people there.
